Steps to Kriya Yoga Initiation
Ananda Sangha presents Paramhansa Yogananda's Kriya techniques in four steps before initiation into the formal pranayama techniques of Kriya Yoga:
Step 1:
The theory and techniques of Hong-Sau meditation and Yogananda's 39 exercises of energization, and incorporate these into a daily routine of meditation.
Step 2:
Paramhansa Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi and the path of Raja Yoga and the teachings of Yogananda. Where we have Ananda ashrams and teaching centres, we present these classes in an 8-week series. Where we do not have such centres, we teach only as much as we can when we visit and ask you to study on your own.
The book for this class is Swami Kriyananda's The Art and Science of Raja Yoga (described here), which can be ordered online or from any major bookstore. To purchase one for our class, please let us know. The cost is Rs. 395.
Step 3:
If you've enjoyed and benefited from this path up to this point and wish to proceed further, we invite you to participate in a discipleship ceremony and learning the Aum technique of meditation.
Step 4:
A series of Kriya preparation exercises and techniques prior to initiation. These are the classes mentioned above under "Kriya Yoga Preparation Programmes".
Kriya Yoga Initiations
Kriya initiations are held regularly in the NCR and other Indian cities. Notice of the dates and locations are sent to those students who are eligible.
