During this weekend, you will learn the basics of meditation. We’ll be offering Beginning and Intermediate Meditation sessions (both together are the equivalent of Meditation, Level I) during these same weekends. Instructors include Yogacharya Dharmadas and other Ananda acharyas.

Format and Content

Each weekend generally follows the same format and content described below. However:

  • In some locations, the weekend begins with the introductory discourse on Saturday evening and combines the 2 workshops Sunday morning and afternoon.
  • In other locations, the weekend begins with the introductory discourse on Friday evening but holds the 1st of the 2 workshops on Saturday and the 2nd on Sunday. In yet other locations, the programme may be arranged still differently.

Meditation and Kriya Yoga Discourse

All are welcome, free of charge.

Meditation Workshop
Open to all.

The practice of Kriya Yoga rests upon a foundation of daily meditation, service and devotion. This workshop will help you learn the basics of meditation and the Kriya science, with a focus on the Hong-Sau technique of meditation as originally taught by Paramhansa Yogananda.

You will be given tested techniques to still your body, free your mind from restless thoughts, and direct your inner awareness upward toward subtle spiritual realms within. These practical methods will quickly help you to relax both body and mind, focus your concentration, and expand your consciousness. Learn through direct experience what joy, peace, and deep calmness are really like and discover how quickly, through daily practice, these qualities can be yours in all aspects of your life!

Topics to be covered in this interactive workshop

  • The theory of Kriya Yoga and the steps to Kriya initiation
  • How to establish a daily routine of meditation (sadhana)
  • How to reduce tension and stress at will
  • How to concentrate more effectively
  • Pranayama and pratyahara (interiorization).

  • The “spiritual eye” and how can we see the “inner light”
  • The connection of mind, breath, and subtle currents in the spine
  • How to be happy at will
  • How to awaken the heart's natural love and why is this important
  • 6 exercises for lifting your consciousness
  • How to respond, not react

At the conclusion of the morning session, each participant will have a foundation for a lifetime of effective, deep meditation. For those students wishing to proceed further along the path of Kriya Yoga, a sustained daily routine of meditation and energization as taught in the afternoon session must first be established before becoming eligible to receive Kriya Yoga initiation.

Energisation Workshop
Open to all.

During this session, you will learn to feel subtle energy (prana) flowing within your body and how to increase and control it (pranayama) at will. The connection among energy, will, and spiritual magnetism is an important element of the science of Kriya Yoga.

This workshop will give you tools to recognize and re-channel the directional movement of your inner energy, thus giving you power to control your state of mind. You will learn and practice Paramhansa Yogananda's Energization Exercises and be given tools to incorporate these into your daily life. Master your inner energy and you will be master of your life!

Topics to be covered in this interactive workshop:

  • How to feel, increase, and control prana
  • How to draw healing power into your body from the Infinite Source
  • Principles of Yogananda's Energization Exercises
  • How to use pranayama to overcome negative moods

  • Breathing properly for greater health and vitality
  • Becoming “superconsciously” aware
  • How to focus your life-force to be effective in all that you do
  • Becoming “magnetic” and attracting success, spiritual and material
  • How to rid yourself of bad habits

Seats for the workshops will be held on a first-come, first-served basis.
